Porsche Motorsport suggests the following recommendations or modifications for endurance racing:

TYPE:     911 GT2

- Engine (Double Ignition)

Check that the waste gate actuators (mounted on the compressor housing) have two green dots painted on the cover of the pressure chamber. If your actuators don’t have these markings, replace them with the proper parts from the PMNA truck.

- TAG 3.8 Motronic Unit

Install a water separator in the hose between the engine pressure chamber and the motronic unit, so that NO moisture can enter the pressure sensor in the unit. Make sure that the separator is rated for 50 lb. and higher. Water separators are available from Porsche Motorsport (part # PMN 618 900 FS). Replacement elements are also available (part # PMN 618 901 FS)

-Transmission

Replace the differential housing with the current one from the GT1 transmission (part # 996 332 080 80). This housing is machined from billet, is a special material and receives different heat treatment. The normal GT2 housing is a cast production part and, in the past, there have been instances of cracking. The internal parts from the GT2 housing can be installed in the new housing.

Install differential shim package, part # 950 332 981 81 (moly coated) and pressure ramp, part # 950 332 983 58, which provides 50/80% limited slip value.

We recommend the following transmission oil:

Castrol XJ

Veedol SAF 44

Mobilube 1 SHC

Half Shafts

If you use the larger rear tires (14"), the load on the outer joints increases dramatically. To alleviate this situation, install cooling hoses directed at the joint, from the fan outlet or from the bottom of the vehicle.

Do not lower the vehicle excessively, since this will increase the axle angle and the load.

After every session and during each pit stop, check that NO grease is leaking from the joint boot. If you find grease, change the half shaft, or watch for potential problems later in the race.
